The top and both sides open up to a mesh screen so your pets can see what is going on. As well it provides ventilation for them. There is a leash attachment to keep your pet (lack of a better word) anchored in the pet carrier so it is not thrown around as you carry it. If your pet is nervous and you feel it would be better off with the privacy covers zipped up you can do that too. The bottom has a soft fuzzy place for them to lay, that is removable so you can wash it, if it gets really hairy. The carrier itself is washable as well. I have 3 cats, and this carrier fits all of them.. well one at a time, not at once. Our largest cat is 22 lbs and she fits in this carrier. If you travel with your pet.
